Richard Rorty was born on October 4th, 1931, in New York City. The attack on epistemology of Rorty, Quine, the latter Wittgenstein, and Sellars, was directed toward undermining that philosophi cal approach which sought to understand the problem of truth in terms of an individual human consciousness that represented reality more or less accurately.
